The Bryant Hornet Wrestling team held their end of season banquet on[more] Monday, Feb. 27, at the Bishop Park Community Center.
The team celebrated several milestones that were achieved during the season. For the first time, Bryant won a tournament, winning the nine-team Bryant Invitational on Dec. 10. At the 28 team CAC Invitational in January, Bryant finished fourth. At the state tournament held at the Jack Stephens Center on Feb. 10-11, Bryant finished sixth out of 20 6A/7A teams, the team's highest finish ever.
In addition, the squad placed six wrestlers on the podium at the state tournament: O'Dell Lee – 1st, Brandon Powell – 2nd, Zack Simmons – 4th, Brett Blend, Connor Goshein – 4th & Levi Brady – 4th. This was the most ever for the Bryant High School wrestling team.
Several individual achievement awards were also handed out:
Rookie of the Year: Ben Freemen & JT Dudderer; Mr Hustle: Levi Brady; Most Improved: Zack Simmons & Connor Goshein; Leadership Award: Brandon Powell; Legacy Award: O'Dell Lee; Outstanding Wrestler: O'Dell Lee, Brandon Powell, Zack Simmons, Brett Blend, Connor Goshein & Levi Brady
