VAN BUREN — Nothing like a little intensive two-day work in an early-season tournament to help bring a young team forward. That was certainly the case for the Bryant Hornets wrestling team when they traveled to Van Buren for a duals tournament.
Though the team went 3-6, their wins included matches against Conway, Van Buren and Quinton, Okla., and the whole competition was good for the team, said Bryant coach Dondre Harris.
“We gained valuable experience,” he asserted. “We have a very young team that has some first-year wrestlers but we are getting better every week.”
Harris mentioned that Kyle Thompson, one of just two seniors on the squad, was voted the top wrestler in the 160-pound classification and freshman Reggie Clemons was voted the second best wrestler in the 120-pound class.
The Hornets return to action this Saturday at the Little Rock McClellan Invitational Tournament.
