Bryant High School graduation is set to take place Thursday, May 19, at[more] Verizon Arena. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Bryant students have been graduating at Verizon since 2007, due to the growth of the graduation classes. The ceremony was previously held at Barton Coliseum.
According to Nancy Hunt, Bryant High School teacher, the ceremony will begin with the presentation of the Colors by Air Force ROTC, followed by the Bryant High School choir singing. The Valedictorian and Salutatorian will then give their speeches. The two students who are receiving these honors will not be announced until next week.
After the two speeches, Jay Pickering, BHS Principal, will pass out the diplomas to all 465 graduating seniors and Brittany Jones, Student Senate President, will thank all parents of the students. The ceremony will end with Jacob Brady, 2011 Class President, addressing the 2011 graduating class with a final farewell speech.
“To date, this class has earned $7.4 million in scholarships and that amount will continue to rise as more students receive notification of awards,” Hunt said.
There will be no free parking at the event, so parents and guests are urged to arrive as early as possible. The Arkansas Travelers will be playing at Dickey Stephens Park that night as well so parking will be limited.
