Though nothing is nailed down, the Bryant High School basketball teams enter the final three games of the regular season in position to reach the Class 7A State Tournament, which will be held in Conway starting March 5.
The BHS teams travel to Texarkana tonight then host Lake Hamilton in the final home games of the campaign on Friday before wrapping up the regular-season at El Dorado on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Tonight’s game is big for both.
The Hornets, currently 10-12 overall, are 6-5 in the South Conference and, more importantly, fourth in the ratings standings for the 7A West (see below). They’ll be trying to snap a four-game slide since their six-game winning streak.
The Lady Hornets, 8-13 and 4-7, are playing about as well as they have all season against some of the top teams in the conference. They challenged 21-1 El Dorado through three quarters then upset then second-place Benton. After breezing past winless J.A. Fair, they’ve challenged Pine Bluff, currently second, on its home floor and Sheridan until the last stages of each game.
Texarkana is the last opponent the Lady Hornets face that is below them in the South standings. The Bryant girls are currently fourth in the West point standings just narrowly ahead of Rogers.
