Bryant juniors Lindsey Butler and Ploy Freebairn finished in the top five in both the girls 50 and 100 year freestyle races at a sprint swim meet at UALR, hosted by Little Rock Catholic High School on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
In addition, junior Justin Combs won the boys one-meter dive competition with a score of 182.10.
In the girls 50 free, Butler finished in 26.62, second only to Cabot’s Caytee Wright. Freebairn was third in 26.86. Sophomores Katie Higgs and Kalee Jackson finished 12th and 13th, respectively. Higgs clocked in at 27.93 and Jackson at 28.02.
Also finishing in the top 20 were Reagan Smith (16th, 28.97) and Libby Thompson (20th, 29.39).
In the 100 free, Butler was third in 58.60 behind Little Rock Central’s duo of Claire Bristow (56.97) and Arianna Shojoee (58.26). Freebairn was fourth in 59.27.
Higgs was 11th in 1:02.36 with Jackson 14th in 1:02.95. Rachel Vos, Jacey Bittle, and Smith were also top 20 finishers. Vos was 16th in 1:04.77; Bittle 18th in 1:05.95; and Smith 19th in 1:05.95.
In the boys 50, sophomore Ray Weldon was Bryant’s top finisher. He was 12th in a time of 24.89. Chandler Reep was 27th in 26.04 followed by Andrew Ball (28th, 26.10) and Trace Rhode (30th, 26.32).
In the boys 100, Weldon was 18th in 57.04. Ball was 23rd in 58.54 with Reep 24th in 58.60 and Rhode 26th in 59.16. Fonzee Bittle was 28th in 59.84 for the Hornets.
Along with Combs, Scott Mead competed in the one-meter dive, taking second with a score of 146.10. In the girls diving competition, Bryant’s Kaitlin Howey was fourth.
Bryant was scheduled to host a full meet at Bishop Park today.
