CONWAY — The Bryant High School golf team got its season underway with an 18-hole tournament at[more] Conway Country Club on Monday, Aug. 8.
“It was a very hot and humid day to walk 18 holes,” noted new Hornets coach Keith Dale.
The boys team finished eighth in a field of 13 teams while the girls finished seventh in a field of 11 teams.
Austin Harmon paced the Hornets with a round of 76, good for an eighth-place tie with two other golfers. Tyler Green carded a 78 to finish as part of a three-way tie for 13th. Chas Thornton turned in an 87 while Nic Jenkins and Gary Williamson each finished at 97.
Peyton Weaver led the Lady Hornets with a round of 83, garnering a sixth-place finish overall. Peyton Jenkins shot a 121 and Kaylee Newell shot 150 to complete the scoring.
The Lady Hornets also include Savanna Cathey, Taylor Lindberg, Carley Miller and Tiffany Robinson.
The Hornets include Luke Brantley, Nick Canale, Nicholas Counts, Ashton Green, Allen Humbard, Logan Moore, Ross Weaver and Mark Winn.
The team is set to compete again on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Sheridan Golf Club then on Thursday, Aug. 18, at Glenwood County Club against Lake Hamilton.
