CONWAY — Members of the Bryant High School chapter of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently attended the State meeting of the organization and received the following awards, according to advisor Heather Hall:
Power of One – Each of the students that attended the State meeting were awarded the Power of One because of their hard work.Students had to set five goals in the different areas given and have proof of completing each goal.
LEGO Arkansas – Students completed the four State components of service: Leadership, Experience, Growth, Opportunity. BHS FCCLA did a large scale community service project for each category.
National Program (Families First) – The Bryant FCCLA held a Family Game Night to support families coming together and spending quality time together. Members and their families played board games, ate pizza, and promised to come back when for a another Family Game Night in the Spring.
100+ Members – There are over 300 chapters of FCCLA in Arkansas and BHS has the most members of all! We have 168 affiliated FCCLA members!
Gold Star Chapter – Only 30 chapters were awarded the honor of Gold Star Chapter out of 300. Chapters had to meet 8 of the 10 requirements and BHS met all 10.
BHS FCCLA had nine teams compete in District S.T.A.R Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) and eight made it to State. One team placed Gold and will advance to Nationals. Caraline Moore and Ashlynn Drost competed with their project on teen dating violence/domestic abuse and the personal connection they have to it.
National competition is in San Diego, Calif., this July.
District STAR winners included, Juliet Ahsam, Logan Allen, Konnor Clontz, Kylie Collins, Logan Corn, Desaree Danner, Makensi Drennen, Ashlynn Drost, Lauren Fuller, Jada Jamerson, Haley Killgore, Miranda Mayfield, Caraline Moore, Aaron Orender, Anna Owens, Tiffany Reed, Kendal Rogers, Kacey Ward and B.J. Zinamon.
Officers for the BHS organization are Collins, Corn, Fuller, Killgore, Mayfield, Orender, Owens and Zinamon.
