LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School advanced[more] to the championship game of the Wildcat Shootout at Episcopal Collegiate Academy with a 30-2 win over Redfield on Wednesday night.
The Bethel seventh grade girls also advanced by scratching out a 28-24 win over E-Stem Charter. They’ll play again this afternoon at 4 in a semifinal game against Lighthouse Charter.
The eighth grade team built a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and led 14-0 at the half. Redfield managed its 2 points in the third quarter but Bryant Blue held a 26-2 lead going into the final period.
Kendal Rogers scored 16 points to lead the Lady Hornets. Sarah Kennedy and Penny Smith added 4 points each. Kasey Ward, Reagan McCormick and Morgan Walters contributed 2 points apiece. Ward and Ti Foote each collected four rebounds.
In the seventh grade game, Bethel took an 8-4 lead in the first quarter and expanded that to 16-7 by halftime. It was 22-13 going into the third quarter when E Stem rallied to make it close at the end.
Danielle Singleton paced the Lady Hornets with 8 points. Stephanie Cullen finished with 4 while Claire Ausbrooks and Baylee Rowton scored 2 each and Raelae Benton 1.
