The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets seventh grade team of Bethel Middle School extracted a narrow victory while the eighth grade Lady Hornets endured a rugged night as Lake Hamilton’s teams came to Bethel on Tuesday.
In the seventh grade game, the Lady Hornets prevailed 23-21, improving to 3-2 on the season. In the eighth grade game, Lake Hamilton rolled to a 36-1 victory.
Lauren Heath scored 9 points to lead the Blue Lady Hornets seventh graders to their win. Cali Rogers added 7, Natalie Harllee 4, Cameron Ausbrooks 2 and Casey Welch 1.
“It was a good win for these girls,” said Bethel coach Derek McGrew. “I am very proud for them.”
In the eighth grade contest, Lauren Burnett’s free throw was the only scoring for Bethel.
“Lake Hamilton is and will be the best team we see all year,” McGrew asserted. “They are undefeated.
“We have struggled all year to score,” he noted. “We will put this one behind us and get reach for Benton on Thursday.”
That game is at Benton. The seventh grade B team is scheduled to play Bryant White on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The A team plays next against Anthony School on Thursday, Jan. 22.
