The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade volleyball team of Bethel Middle School split two matches at the Bryant Classic Saturday at the Bryant Middle School gym, while the B team absorbed a close loss to Bryant Middle School’s eighth grade B team.
The A team defeated Bryant White 19-25, 25-10, 15-6 but lost to The Anthony School, 25-27, 25-29, 15-10.
In the B game, it was 22-25, 25-22, 13-15 as each set went right down to the wire.
In the win over Bryant White, Bethel had a strong match at the service line. Karlee Kindy served up four aces while Ally Benoit, Madi Draper and Jenna Vos had three each. Emily Cox added one.
Draper led the team with five kills. Vos and Benoit had one apiece while Vox and Ellen Barnes came through with a block apiece. Cassie Ray led the team with five digs. Alyssa Sawyer had one.
Against the Anthony School, Kindy served up seven aces and Benoit six. Draper and Rhodes contributed four kills apiece and Vos had a block. Ray and Sawyer had digs.
Emily Cox led the B team with three aces. Sydney Boswell served up two and Bailey Cunningham, Rebecca Wertenberger and Kenya Rideout had one each. Jasmin Martinez came through with a block during the match.
Bethel is set to play Cabot this evening at 5 p.m.
