CABOT — The Bryant Blue Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School outscored the Cabot North Panthers 12-2 in the fourth quarter to blow open their game Tuesday night.
The Hornets finished with a 37-19 victory to improve to 4-2 on the season going into their showdown with crosstown rival Bryant White at Bryant Middle School on Thursday.
Bryant Blue also won the seventh grade game, edging the Panthers, 24-22. That improved the Bethel team to 5-2 going into Thursday’s game.
Brayden Godwin led the Blue eighth grade team with 12 points. Austin Schroeder added 7, Landon Nelson 6 and Lindsey Jackson 4. Ryan Riggs pitched in with 3. Noah Adams and Cameron McDonald scored 2 each.
Cabot North held a 4-2 lead after a quarter but the Hornets got it going in the second period. By halftime, they led 15-12. It was 25-17 going into the fourth quarter.
In the seventh grade game, the Hornets jumped out to a 10-3 lead but were held scoreless in the second quarter at Cabot North pulled within 10-9. It was 15-14 in favor of Bethel at the end of the third quarter.
Zachariah Foote paced the effort for the Hornets, scoring 11 points. Jaylen Williams added 9, Demetrius Sanders 3 and Evan Barrett hit a free throw.
