The Bryant Blue Hornets eighth and seventh grade teams from Bethel Middle School each earned victories over Little Rock Episcopal on Thursday night. In the eighth grade game, Cade Drennan scored 11 points in a 32-18 win. In the seventh grade game, Austin Schroeder pumped in 17 points including four 3-pointers in a 44-32 win.
The eighth grade team jumped out to an 11-3 lead by the end of the first quarter then increased the margin to 16-7 at the half. It was 22-12 going into the final period.
Kayleb West added 6 points for Bethel. Ethan Hilkret and Jonathan Hall scored 4 each. Daniel Walter, Ben Devine and Jalen Dinstbier pitched in with 2 each. Ethan Loomis had a free throw.
In the seventh grade contest, Bethel put together a 16-5 blitz in the first quarter and an 11-4 surge in the third. It was 25-16 lead at the half, 36-20 going into the fourth.
Along with Schroeder’s big night, Hayden Purdy finished with 8 and Braden Robinson 7. Brayden Godwin added 5, Garet Wilson 4 and Cameron Palmer 2. Hayden Schrader scored a point. Schroeder scored 8 of his points in the third quarter.
Bryant Blue takes on Bryant White on Monday, Feb. 1, at Bryant Middle School. The eighth grade team is scheduled to play at Lake Hamilton on Tuesday.
