A rare slow start got the Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School off on the wrong foot Tuesday night against the Benton Junior Lady Panthers. They never quite recovered in a 6-25, 25-22, 2-15 setback.
In a B game, Benton prevailed 25-23, 25-21.
“We started off slow, played well in the second then fell flat in the third,” observed Lady Hornets coach Melissa Bragg. “We have to play more consistent.”
Reagan Dabbs and Lauren Hart each served for two aces in the match. Dabbs added a kill.
In the B game, Abby Henson served for three aces with Katelin Cotton and Kaycee White adding two apiece. Dabbs finished with an ace and three assists while Macie Morton contributed a pair of blocks.
“I was proud of how the girls competed,” Bragg said. “They played hard the whole time they were on the floor.”
The Lady Hornets are scheduled to play at Cabot South on Thursday.
