BENTON — With wins in four of their last five matches, it looked like the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman volleyball team was geared up for a shot at the rival Benton Lady Panthers on Monday night but they never quite got in gear as they absorbed a 12-25, 10-25 loss.
“Benton played really well,” said Bryant coach Lawrence Jefferson. “We struggled passing, hitting and serving. We never to in a rhythm.”
Thursday, the Lady Hornets will try to get back on track when they host Cabot White at Bryant Middle School gym.
Against Benton, Grace Sams led with two kills. Cali Rogers, Truli Bates and Alex Gutierrez each had one. Bates added two blocks.
Sophie Kennedy contributed two assists. Meredith Medford and Aryanna Gutierrez each had one.
Kiarra Beard and Cora Edwards each had an ace from the service line.
Defensively, Kenedy Kuchinski came up with a team-high eight digs. Sams added five with Beard and Medford getting three apiece.
