On Sunday, Oct. 2, Everett Buick GMC, Arkansas Select Dealer, will present the 2011 “Hook-a-Heart” benefit[more] team bass tournament on the Arkansas River. Take-off and weigh-in will be held at Murray Park in Little Rock.
Civitan Services is partnering with United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arkansas to split the production and the proceeds for the event. Proceeds will go to help fund equipment and services for men, women and children with developmental disabilities all across central Arkansas.
Civitan has partnered with Frank Leone, an experienced tournament director and owner of www.get5bass.com. Ronnie Everett, former owner of Mr. Bass of Arkansas Pro/Am Tournament Circuit, will also be out on the water fishing with everyone this year. Arkansas Game and Fish personnel will be on hand to safely return the fish to the water.
The tournament is open to all amateur anglers 16 years and older and there should be two fishers per boat. Entry fee is $100 per boat and can be paid to either Civitan Services or UCP of Arkansas. Entries turned in after Sept. 28 will have a $25 late penalty. Fishermen will also have the opportunity to pay to enter and win a cash prize for the biggest bass weighed in for the day.
The first place team is guaranteed a $1,000 cash prize. Cash and prizes will also be awarded to teams finishing second through fifth place but the total payout will be determined by the number of boat entries.
To register for the tournament or to get a copy of the official rules, contact the Civitan Center Monday through Friday at 501-776-0691. Entry forms can also be downloaded with online pay online here or the forms can be picked up at various local fishing and sporting goods retailers in central Arkansas.
The Hook-a-Heart tournament will help raise funds for the various preschool and adult programs at Civitan Services and UCP of Arkansas. Combined, these two agencies have been providing services to Arkansans with developmental disabilities for over 100 years.
The 2011 Hook-a-Heart tournament is also sponsored by Middlebrooks Electric, Dr. Keith Bennett, M.D., Lamar Graphics, Snell, Saline Memorial Hospital, Landers Auto Group of Saline County, Smith-Caldwell Drug, Inc., Dr. Jerry Dixon, M.D. and Scott Family Dentistry.
