The Arkansas Rollin’ Razorbacks will play against opponents from Bryant schools and the community in a game of basketball in wheelchairs on Thursday, March 13, at 7 p.m., at the Bryant Middle School gym.
Sponsored by Hill Farm Elementary School, this event is to raise awareness for Batten’s Disease and for William Braddock and family. William is a kindergarten student at Hill Farm who has been diagnosed with Batten’s, a relatively rare disease with devastating effects. Bracelets will be available for any donation of $1 or more with all proceeds going to the Braddock family and the fight against Batten’s.
A different team will play against the Razorbacks during each of the game’s 10-minute quarters. Expect to see Hill Farm teachers, Bryant High School athletes, local youth ministers, and school resource officers take the court on wheels.
The National Champion Bryant varsity cheer squad will be on hand to partner with special needs students and friends from William’s kindergarten class. Halftime will feature the Chick-fil-A mascot and eight Special Olympics athletes on their way to compete in the USA Games in June.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students (and children under 5) at the door.
Concessions will be available with a portion of the evening’s proceeds going to Special Olympics.
Event co-chairs are Alicia Atwood and Nancy Kohler, both teachers at Hill Farm Elementary School.
In support of the event, Chick-fil-A in Bryant will donate $1 from its Cow and Cookie program March 10-12.
