LITTLE ROCK — A slow start proved too much to overcome for the Bryant Lady Hornets at Mount St. Mary Academy on Tuesday night. The Lady Hornets lost the first two sets to the Belles, rallied to win game three then played a tough fourth game before absorbing an 18-25, 15-25, 25-21, 22-25 loss in 7A-Central Conference play.
In a junior varsity match, the Lady Hornets fell 10-25, 13-25.
The Bryant varsity served efficiently with only three errors in 75 serves. Reagan Bland was good on all 19 of her serves with five aces. Kyla Baker went 12 for 12 and Brittney Warner was good on 14 of her 15 with six aces. Sarah Clemmons had three aces with just one error in 12 serves.
Baker had two aces and Ashlyn Lee added one to go with her 29 assists and five digs. Baker had five digs as well with Riley Hill coming up with six. Reagan Dabbs turned in four and Reagan Blend led with eight.
At the net, the Lady Hornets had 38 kills but 33 errors. Lylah Washington and Raven Loveless each had nine kills, Clemmons eight and Warner six. Lee came up with three, Alex Dillard two and Hill one.
Clemmons led the team with three solo blocks and a block assist. Warner and Dillard each came through with a couple of solo blocks.
In the JV match, Faith Stone led the team with two kills. Imanii Jones and Madi Draper each added one. Kristin Boyle contributed a solo block.
Stone also had the team’s lone service ace. As a team, the Lady Hornets were good on 16 of 19 serves.
More conference action awaits the Lady Hornets when they return to the court on Thursday at home against Little Rock Central.
