CABOT — The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade volleyball team of Bethel Middle School overcame a slow start and wound up battling Cabot Red of South Junior High past the 15-point mark in the third and deciding game. The Lady Panthers managed to eke out a win, 25-10, 20-25, 19-17.
“We were unable to put serves together,” said Bethel coach Melissa Bragg of the first set. “And we were having trouble returning Cabot’s serve.
“Then, in the second game, our serve return improved and Kiarra Beard was a serving machine putting together 11 straight serves and 10 straight aces.”
Beard finished with 13 aces in the match. Camille Rawls and Meredith Medford added three each and Grace Sams had two. Cali Rogers and Ashton Kyzer each had a kill.
“The girls battled the third game but, unfortunately, we came up short,” Bragg related. “I am proud of how the Lady Hornets played. They never gave up.”
Bryant Blue will return to action on Monday, Sept. 21, against Benton at the Bryant Middle School gym.
