The Bryant Barracudas hit the road Saturday, June 20, for their first swim meet away from their home pool at Longhills Golf Club. The meet was held at Otter Creek. Fresh off of a win against the Maumelle Marlins, the Barracudas continued their winning ways defeating the Otter Creek Otters and the Lonoke SharkRockets in the overall point standings. The Barracudas tallied 595.5 points while the Otters scored 443.5 and the SharkRockets totaled 184. The overall medal count was 188, 127 and 54 respectively.
Coaches Onat Tungach and David Degues are instilling a winning mentality into their swimmers and it’s really paying off with some quality individual performances.[more]
Mollie Robinson is a 14-year-old swimmer who placed first in the 50 meter freestyle, Bronze division with a time of 39.94. She swam to a third place finish in the 50 meter backstroke, Bronze division. She was the second leg of the 100 meter freestyle relay and then swam to a third place finish in the girls 13-14 Bronze division butterfly. She capped the day off with a second place finish in the 100 meter individual medley.
Twelve-year-old Garret Sullivan also had an impressive day. He placed second in the Gold division of the 50 meter backstoke with a time of 44.25. He served as the lead leg in the 100 meter freestyle relay where he, Dylan Wolf, Mason Nelson and Zach Dawson won with a time of 1:10.28 – over 10 seconds faster than their nearest opponent. Garret also placed first in the Gold division of the 50 meter butterfly and third in the Gold division of the 50 meter freestyle.
Division winners for the Barracudas were John Dellorto in the 7-8 freestyle Gold division and Stanley Robinson in the Bronze division. Olivia Chambers won the Gold division of the 6-under freestyle with Sophie Williams winning the Bronze division. Macey Loudon won the Bronze division girls 7-8 freestyle. Boston Heil placed first in the boys 9-10 Silver division freestyle. Peyton Ramsey edged out Mary Katherine Dawson for the Silver division 11-12 freestyle crown. Libby Thompson won the Bronze division 11-12 freestyle while Luke Jamison won the 13-14 Gold division and Grant Ross won the Bronze division. Andrew Dull took the 15-18 freestyle Silver title and Brennan Bullock took the Bronze division. And, in the girls 15-18 freestyle, it was Erin Moser winning the Gold division, Amanda Butler winning the Silver division and Mollie Robinson the Bronze division.
Barracuda winners in the Backstroke were Adam Lorio, 6-under Silver division; Garrett Eason, 7-8 Bronze division; Jillian Langley, Gold in the girls Gold division; Jillian Colclasure, 6-under Bronze division; Mason Nelson, 9-10 Gold division; Dylan Wolf, 11-12 Bronze division; Lindsey Butler, 11-12 Gold division; Libby Thompson, 11-12 Bronze division; Brennan Bullock, 15-18 Bronze division; Kelsie Vaughn, 13-14 Gold division; and Courtney Wells in the Bronze division.
In the 25 meter Kickboard, Sophie Williams came in first for the Barracudas.
