The 180 athletes grades 7 through 12 that make up the Bryant cross country program will be split into three teams (Blue, White and Black) for the annual intrasquad meet, which will be held this year at the Bryant Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 27.
The girls race starts at 6:30 p.m., with the boys race to follow.
The team will be divided into three groups, Blue, White, and Black with the top 10 finishers from each team scored. The winning team will get coupons from Sonic.
The Lady Hornets return three runners that competed in the Class 7A State meet last fall including top 20 finisher Hannah Shelby, who will begin her senior season. Junior Madelyn Elswick and sophomore Lauren Hart return as well.
For the Hornets, four runners from the team’s contingent at State return including senior Charlie Terry who finished sixth overall.
In addition, seniors Joey Colvert and Eric Stewart return along with junior John Carder and sophomore Decature Austin, who each competed at State.
Along with Terry, Colvert and Stewart, seniors on the team include Matthew Bagby, Travis Cumming, Clayton Harvey, Justin Karp, Sam Martin, Justice Pryor, Peyton Reber, Edward Sanchez, Derek Vos and Cole Watson.
Senior girls are Letizia Arrigoni, Melissa Barrientos, Kaylee Butler, Jordan Duval, Katie Higgs, Haley Hood, Haley Levinson, Joceline Roman and Reagan Smith.
Along with Carder, the junior boys are Miguel Arias, Samuel Bassham, Landon Booth, Eathan Devine, Braeden Gaines, Austin Guthrie, Demondre Johnson, Edgar Juarez, Drew Matthews, John Mitchell, Jonathan Morris, Enrique Ramos and Isaac Resendiz.
The junior girls, including Elswick, are Katherine Goins, Brianna Hood, Esmeralda Limon and Avery Lorio.
The sophomore boys are Hunter Apel, Austin, Ricky Barrientos, Gilberto Cardenas, Jhorman Cruz, Bryand Esparza, Erik Gonzales, Colby Harvey, Michael Higgs, Jesse Kinder, Dawson Oakley, David Ocampo, Cory Shields, Oscar Smith, Edgar Tejada, Henry Ticas, Uriel Velazquez and Kaine Villereal-Hurst.
Along with Hart, the sophomore girls are Katelynn Blacklaw, Carissa Colclasure, Amber Edwards, Katlee Freasier, Sara Gonzales, Gracen Goudy, Emma Kinder, Flora Noble, Alyssa Rowland, Tess Sullivan and Kaylin Watts.
Freshmen are Lance Andrews, Chris Barrientos, Bryan Collins, Jake Dreher, Jackson Givens, Luis Lara, Chris Morgan, Charles Mortensen, Joshua Nelson, Matthew O’Gary, Ben Sellers, Alex Short, Isaac Silos, Kevin Wang and Blake Wilson for the boys.
For the girls, the frosh are Bailey Brazil, Hannah Brewer, Kailee Dryoel, Darcie Dunbar, Sydney Farnam, Zhania Hall, Natasha Hobby, Hailey Louchen, Chloe McGhee, Maribeth Mead, Hailey Mitchell, Ally Morse, Halie Patrieo, Ashley Potter, Kylie Queen, Sarah Rogers, Sydney Sasfai, Andrew Thomas and Kaleigh Thomas.
Bryant will open the regular season at the Ouachita Baptist University Invitational in Arkadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 5.
