The annual Hornet Bowl, pitting the Hornets of Bethel Middle School (Bryant Blue) and the Hornets of Bryant Middle School (Bryant White) in games at Bryant Stadium, will be held tonight. The seventh grade battle will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the eighth grade game to follow around 7.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m., as the high school practice winds down. Tickets will be $3. Bethel will be the visitors this year and will sit on the visitors (East) side of Bryant Stadium.
The eighth grade teams, who will be playing against each other for the last time and will be teammates next year on the freshman team, have not had a common opponent this season. Bryant White has gone 4-0 with wins over Cabot North (28-8), Little Rock Forest Heights (36-16), Little Rock Pulaski Heights (26-6) and Little Rock Cloverdale (42-8). Bryant Blue is 3-1 with a win over Little Rock Horace Mann (28-0) to open the season. Following a setback at Lake Hamilton (12-8), Bethel has defeated North Little Rock Lakewood (26-0) and Conway Blue (18-14).
