MORRILTON — The process of development continued for the Bryant Lady Hornets Thursday night as they suffered another close setback. A fourth-quarter surge by the Alma Airedalettes extracted a 46-42 win over the Lady Hornets in the consolation game of the Morrilton Classic.
Junior Kelly Williams led Bryant with 12 points. Junior Raven Loveless added 11 and senior Kendal Rogers had 8. Sophomore Mary Catherine Selig finished with 4.
Alma led 12-7 after a quarter. It was 17-16 at the half then Bryant put together a third-quarter surge to produce a 33-31 edge.
“We’re getting better every game and every practice,” said Lady Hornets coach Brad Matthews.
Deja Rayford, Lania Ratliff and Kalia Walker each had 2 points for Bryant. Robyn Gordon added a free throw.
The Lady Hornets will try to break through Tuesday at Benton as they defend their Saline County Shootout title against the rival Lady Panthers.
