LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade volleyball team of Bryant Middle School bounced back from a rugged outing on Monday with a 2-1 win over Anthony School on Tuesday.
The Lady Hornets won 25-10, 8-25, 15-7 while the seventh grade team suffered a 15-25, 25-19, 11-15 setback.
Bryant White plays against Bryant Blue at Bethel Middle School in its next contest on Monday, Sept. 16.
“We changed our line-up to move a couple of people around on serve-receive and it seemed to help,” related Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward. “Maddie Miller was our setter but she is also a great passer so I was trying to get her more involved on back row. In order to do that I had to move Kyla Baker to setter. We are now using two setters instead of one and it gives us a better look on the back row.
“In the first game, Raven Loveless, Erin Chappell and Gabbie Bonvillain all served great scoring 5 points each combining for nine aces,” she noted. “Raven and Gabbie also had two kills each. Kyla had a great service in the third game with points 2-11 including five aces.”
Of the seventh grade game, Ward said, “The seventh grade played good. All three games were close. We have some things we need to improve on but I also saw some things we are doing right.
“Everyone got playing time on the court,” she mentioned. “This was the first game we had to back up and serve regulation serves. Overall, I was happy with our performance and effort.”
