CABOT — Sparked by an early service run by Lara White, the Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade[more] volleyball team of Bryant Middle School captured both games of a close match against the Cabot South Lady Panthers on Thursday night.
White served up six aces in a row to get the Lady Hornets off to a great start. Julianna Ward picked up where White left off later in the first game by serving three consecutive aces for points 13 through 15. Savannah Shelton served for points 10 and 11 as well as 22 and 23 then the Lady Hornets held on when Cabot South put together an 8-0 run late in the set.
Ward contributed two kills and a tip. White had a kill and a tip while Sierra Jones contributed a service ace and Shelton picked up two assists and Shayla McKissock one.
In the second game, Allie Anderson put together a four-point service run with two aces. Dejai Kelley served for two points and added a kill off an assist by Miranda Mayfield. Ward contributed a service ace then White closed out the match the way she started it with aces on points 22 through 25.
The Lady Hornets finish their season on Thursday, Sept. 29, at home against Conway Blue.
