Car clubs and floats are the foundation of the 2015 Bryant Lighted Christmas Parade this Thursday on Reynolds Road. Walkers with candy will be a part, too. All will be lighted.
“Christmas Past, Present and Future” is the theme for the parade, presented by Landers Auto of Saline County. Parade marshals will be representing the Gala for the Boys and Girls Club of Bryant. The Gala is set for New Year’s Eve.
“We are keeping the same route as in years past and are asking everyone to light their float and walkers as there is little lighting,” said Megan Caldwell, chairperson. “Our Bryant Police Department is helping out on lighting with two light towers and the Bryant Water Department will bring out one, also. But any additional lights Chamber members could bring would be appreciated,” she added.
The line-up will begin at 5:30 p.m., at the Bryant Middle School. The parade will be at 6:30 p.m., and Reynolds Road will be closed to thru traffic during the parade. School and Wise streets will also be blocked once the parade begins.
Parents are asked to drop off at or park at the lot between Bryant Middle School and Bryant Elementary and walk over with their children who are float riders. Only the floats should enter the Bryant Middle School lot.
Floats will enter the middle school lot down the lane closest to the football stadium and will enter into the line from the back of the lot facing outward to Sullivan. The parade will go up the hill at Sullivan, turn right on Reynold and proceed down Reynolds to NW 4th Street where it will turn and wend around the school to return to the Middle School parking lot.
The prizes remain the same as in years past as does the fee to enter. The prizes are:
1st place — $100
2nd place — $75
3rd place — $50
The entry fee is $10 if registered in advance and goes up to $20 if not registered in advance. Entry forms are available online at www.bryantchamber.com or at the Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce office at 109 Roya Lane.
