The Bryant Athletic Association will be hosting the 2012 AA State American Legion State Tournament at[more] Bryant High School Field and Bishop Park starting Friday, July 13.
Fourteen teams from around the state will be competing for the tournament title including the Everett Black Sox of Bryant.
Tickets will be sold at the gate: $6 for adults, $5 for Senior citizens, $4 for kids.
The AA division of American Legion baseball is for players ages 19-and-under drawing from smaller school districts or 18-and-under teams drawing from larger school district, usually with Senior (19-and-under) teams as part of the program.
This season Bryant fielded a Senior team, along with the AA squad and a Junior (17-and-under) team, the Sport Shop Black Sox.
Bryant and Pine Bluff National Bank have received first-round byes in the tournament, which commences at 2 p.m., on Friday at both venues. Saturday and Sunday games will begin at 2 p.m. also. The tournament, which concludes next weekend with all games at the Bryant High School Field, follows a double-elimination format.
Bryant will play its first game on Saturday night at 7 p.m., against the winner of a first-round contest on Friday between Harrison and Stuttgart.
The Everett Sox, actually a 17-and-under team, have posted a 21-5 record this season.
